Message from the Secretary General of APSO

It is my honour to become the Secretary General of APSO from 2021 to 2023, and under the leadership of Prof Byung-Woo Yoon. Stroke remained a major cause of stroke and disability all over the World, especially over the Asia Pacific Region.

Although every country is struggling to fight against the COVID pandemic, the effort to fight against stroke should also be continued.  During this global COVID-19 pandemic, face to face encounter for stroke education and knowledge exchange become very difficult.  Fortunately, at the same time, it had started the new era of webinar for mutual communication.  In fact, it might strongly facilitate colleagues and friends with interest in stroke care, from different corners of the Asia Pacific Region to participate educational activity in the field of stroke in virtual platform with much lesser cost.

So the Secretary will continue to take up the responsibility to communicate with all the member stroke societies, as well as WSO, ESO, carry out decisions of Executive Committee and support the implementation of the stroke educational activities organized by APSO or other Societies in the region, no matter whether they are in virtual or physical format.

And let us fight together against stroke as well as the COVID pandemic.

Yours sincerely,

Wing-Chi Fong, MBBS, FRCP

Secretary-General, APSO
